History of Tae Kwon Do

All though some experts disagree, it is believed that Tae Kwon Do dates as far back as cave paintings. Early tombs often show 2 men in what appears to be a fighting stance. As time passed these early forms of korean martial arts became known as 'Taek Kyon'. Centuries later when Korea became independent after World War I several Kwans arose, all of them uniting in 1955 as Tae Soo Do. The name Taekwondo was adopted due to its similarity with the name Tae Kyon.
