Martial Arts Weapons

Many martial arts weapons are for helping the student focus on mind and body. Some of the most popular martial arts weapons are nunchakus, which were made popular by the Legendary Bruce Lee. Also gaining in popularity are bo staffs, often seen on such shows as Kung Fu or Xena, Princess Warrior. Many Martial Arts weapons are in stick form, such as nunchaku, staffs, Other weapons are strictly for display. The Okinawans were known for their various weapons, which played a major part in their martial arts style.

Okinawan Weaponry

Okinawan weaponry is as as interesting as it is divers! Some of the different weapons covered in this section include the tonfa, oar, kama, sai, bo staff and the always popular nunchakus. There are also Okinawan weapons that havent been in the spotlight quite as much, such as the suruchin...also known as the whip rope and the hoe...yes the farming tool used by many the world over! A legend in our times, Master Mikio Nishiuchi is an expert in the Okinawan Martial Arts. He is also a the promoter of several popular Martial Arts Tournaments including the 100th Anniversary Okinawan-US Immigrant Karate/Kobudo Seminar and Tournament. As Chairman of the International Okinawa Kobudo Association (IOKA), Master Nishiuchi has helped to bring Okinawan Martial Arts to the forefront! This entire section focuses on the use of weapons!
