Black Dragon Ninja SwordJapan's defeat in the World War II dealt a second major blow to the world of the sword. The manufacturer of any kind was strictly forbidden by the Western occupying forces and swords were of course included in the ban. The 1876 edict had only applied to wearing of swords rather than to their manufacture and its effect was less devastating. However,in 1953 a new law was introduced which included the provision that there was no obstacle to swords provided permission had been previously obtained from the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Properties.
