Martial Arts originated in the Far East. There are numerous schools of martial arts such as Ninjitsu, Judo, Aikido, Taekwondo, Tai Chi, Kung Fu, etc. Currently over 100 million students practice Martial Arts, and a large percentage of these are children. This weaponless form of self defense is known as Empty hand fighting. Because of this, it is a perfectly geared for the many young children who have become students.

There are many advantages to children practicing and becoming involved in the martial arts! Normally shy and introverted children often find an outlet for a talent that they were unaware they had. Martial Arts is also perfect for the extroverted child. Some of the advantages to a child becoming involved in the martial arts are self defense, self discipline and self confidence. Finding a Martial Arts School for Your Child

Whether or not your child wants to attend a Martial Arts School should be left totally up to him or her. Never force your child to take a martial arts class if they are not interested. But guess what? Nine out of ten times, children are absolutely thrilled at the prospect of taking martial arts class! If you want to get your child involved, you probably will not have to do a big sales job, as martial arts sells itself! Every child wants to be a karate kid and tournament competitions have helped many children to blossom! To find a school for your child, call several martial arts schools in the yellow pages or take recommendations from a friend. Call for prices to make sure it fits your budget. First attend the school without your child, so that you can see whether you approve of the atmosphere. If you do, great! The next step is to bring your child! If he or she likes it, youre on your way! However if you find your child doesnt seem to want to participate after showing an initial interest, it may be something as simple as trying another school. Make sure you dont sign any time binding contracts!!! First make sure that your child feels comfortable and happy!
