Feng Shui Tips - Main Entrance

1) The most important first step to realizing the benefits of Feng Shui is to perform a Space Cleaning procedure. Every environment has accumulated negative energy, or "sha chi", that needs to be eliminated. This procedure will make all other cures more effective. We will add a link about space cleaning soon.

2) It is ideal that energy or 'chi' is able to flow in a meandering, unbroken path from the front of your home to the back. If the back door is in direct alignment with the front, place a large plant or decorative screen in an appropriate place between the two. This will help to prevent the 'chi' from passing straight thru your home without circulating..

3) The area directly outside your front door determines the quality of the 'chi' that enters your home. This space must be kept very clean and orderly.

4) Pathways or garden beds that lead up to your front entrance should be meandering or softly curving. A fountain, birdbath or small pond placed to the left of the door as you exit will help to improve positive 'chi' in this area..

5) Any large trees that are directly in front of the main entrance should be removed if possible. If it isn't possible to remove trees, a Convex Bagua placed over the front door will help to remedy this problem. Hedges that are higher than the door should be trimmed so that the door is not completely hidden from view.

6) A wind chime hung in the area of the front door will discourage 'sha chi' or negative energy from entering the home. This is also a cure for a front door that is very large, a decorative trend that is discouraged in Feng Shui.

7) If the front door is very small, place a mirror opposite or in the vicinity of the doorway to invite more 'chi 'to come in.

8) A pair of male and female Fu Dogs placed outside the entrance will serve as protectors of the home and will repel negativity.  Fu Dogs are important to the setting.

9) A Money Frog placed just inside the front door facing inward is a symbol for attracting luck and prosperity into the household.

10) Placing a Buddha in clear view as you and your family enter your home is a good way to subconsciously inspire a positive attitude of tranquility, lightheartedness and abundance in your family.

11) An entry way that is dark or narrow can be improved by the use of lighting, a Mirror, a ceiling fan, or even a thoughtfully placed Good Luck Charm, bells or crystal

12) Burn aromatic and cleansing Incense near the entrance to your home before guests or family members arrive. We have a large selection of appropriate Incense Burners for you to chose from. The atmosphere will become welcoming and soothing to their spirits.

13) It is undesirable to have a set of stairs leading to another level in the proximity of the front door. If possible, a diverter should be installed in this area.  If this is not possible, consider placing a Decorative Screen or large potted plant between the front door and the stairs.

14) If your front door is below street level, a common situation for city dwellers, it is vitally important to place a Mirror over the front entrance. This helps to ward off the chaotic energy that is constantly moving around outside your door. Mirrors are also useful if your doorway opens out onto a hallway, faces a busy street, the corner of a building, or even a neighbor's property.
