Feng Shui Tips - Infant's Bedroom
Refer to the "Adults Bedroom" page for general tips that also apply to this section.

1) The most important first step to realizing the benefits of Feng Shui is to perform a Space Clearing procedure. Every environment has accumulated negative energy, or "sha chi', that needs to be eliminated. This procedure will make all other cures more effective.
2) Whether your baby has his own space or shares your bedroom, the environment should be very soothing. Use pastel colors and simple decoration. There is no need for complex designs and bright primary colors, which can actually over stimulate your baby and cause him to become fussy and a poor sleeper. Add textures like crushed velvet, soft velour and thick, soft rugs.

3) Choose simple furnishings, preferably with rounded corners. This not only provides the proper movement of "chi", but also is also safer once your baby becomes mobile.

4) Choose sheer window curtains that allow filtered natural light into the room.

5) Remove all art that is under glass and remove mirrors. These all create 'chi' that is way too harsh and "yang" for baby. Hang a pastel tapestry of flowers or an antique quilt on the wall.

6) Never place your baby's crib under a sloping ceiling. The energy here is oppressive and can cause numerous health and behavioral problems. If this is absolutely unavoidable, use a
Crystal
or simple Wind chime to offset the negative affects of this type of architecture.

7) Do not dangle complex mobiles over your baby's bed. Choose a simple mobile of pastel colors or a set of three small Crystals hung at slightly different heights. Place these in a stagnant corner, or over the changing table.

8) If your baby has been sleeping in your room and it is time for her to move into her own space, begin by spending quality, happy time there. It is a great idea to begin by feeding your baby there so that she will associate the space with comfort and contentment
