The Easy Feng Shui Guide

Feng Shui Tips - Bathroom

1) The most important first step to realizing the benefits of Feng Shui is to perform a Space Clearing procedure. Every environment has accumulated negative energy, or "sha chi", that needs to be eliminated. This procedure will make all other cures more effective.
2) Bathrooms have a profoundly draining effect on healthy 'chi' in the home. For this reason it is important to always keep bathroom doors closed. Also keep toilet lids closed whenever they are not in use.

3) If you have a window in the bathroom, open it daily. Allow sunlight to stream into the room as much as possible. Fresh air and sunlight are the best defenses against mold, and stale, damp "sha chi". Slatted blinds are great for providing privacy while still letting in natural light.

4) Bathrooms with no windows are very problematic because it is difficult to avoid a build up of damp, stagnant "sha chi". If this is your case, be sure to supply bright, even lighting, and install an efficient, quiet, exhaust fan and use it on a daily basis. Hanging a Charm or Hanger, or faceted

in an appropriate place in the room will also help to move and disperse energy.

5) Keep the bathroom very clean and neat. Avoid clutter and arrangements of small objects that tend to collect dust. In the bathroom, less is definitely more.

6) A beautiful, longevity Turtle is an appropriate symbol for the bathroom because it represents good health, healing and longevity.

7) Plenty of healthy, leafy plants are great in the bathroom since they help to absorb moisture and minimize the problem of stagnant 'chi'. Lucky Bamboo is a good choice in bathrooms with limited light.  If natural light is a concern, install "grow" or full spectrum bulbs.

) Incenses are a great way to heighten and refresh energy and create a sensual atmosphere in
the bathroom.

9) Avoid the use of too much fabric. Surfaces should be easy to keep clean and dry, to avoid the accumulation of excess stagnant yin energy. Glazed ceramic tile, glass, and chrome fixtures are all very yang, making them very effective 'chi' movers.

10) Use mirrors in the bathroom to speed up the flow of 'chi' and to give a spacious feeling to a small room. Never place mirrors where they reflect into each other. 'Chi' becomes trapped between them and cannot circulate.

11) Space clearing is an important element in maintaining a healthy bathroom. Burning

refreshes the atmosphere and improves  the quality of chi or energy. Do not store unused incense in the bathroom since its porous quality will absorb and hold stagnant chi.
