SOME HISTORY

Jackie Chan changed the American view of an Asian aesthetic because he brought things into his films that almost no actor had done before. As I watched "Drunken Master", I could not believe just how funny it really was. As I mentioned earlier, he was actually the first person to put comedy into martial arts. Many American’s have stereotyped Asians as not being very funny. He helped to change that view. It’s a shame that these movies only recently have been dubbed for English language because I think he could of changed that "unfunny" stereotype of Asians a long time ago if American people could of heard him speak then. "Drunken Master" was released in the mid 1970’s. Now some twenty plus years later, Americans are just now seeing this humor.
