History
of Judo
Derived from
jujitsu, judo is a form of attacking others, using only the
body. A recent martial arts style, it was founded in 1882 by
the late Professor Kano. Kano spent most of his early years
in Tokyo, Japan where he went on to perfect Judo by deleting
the precarious aspects of jujitsu and keeping only the
superlative. It grew in popularity when its students won out
over the Jujitsu athletes at the Police Bujitsu Contest.
Kano went on to become the first Asian member of the
International Olympic Committee in 1909 and went on the work
for the spread of Judo throughout the world.
These are instructional DVD's starring Master Keith Schwartz, a black belt Judo champion and coach to over 28 Minnesota State Judo Champions. This series is a definite MUST have for those who study Judo and compete. Great to build a Judo library with!!!
