Martial Arts

Having started in the far east, Martial Arts has spread worldwide and is one of the most popular forms of physical and mental discipline of our times. It currently has over 100 million students that practice it as a form of self defense. All of the various martial arts styles, use the body to perform movements. Weapons may also be added, such as nunchuckus or ninja throwing stars. In addition to the actual practice of Martial Arts, Martial Arts can be used in many other ways, such as meditating with tai chi, self defense such as Tae Kwon Do, and for physical fitness...for instance in the form of Jeet Kune Do.

Chinese Martial Arts

The Chinese Martial Arts are known for their fluidity. Flow is the name of the game so to speak and if you are looking for a more gentle form of martial arts, the Chinese forms such as kung fu, wing chun and tai chi are perfect examples. The Chinese Martial Arts are meditative and are almost like dancing.

Japanese Martial Arts

The Japanese Martial Arts are powerful and strong! The Japanese are known for lower center gravity and power. Examples of popular Japanese martial arts are Shotokan, Goju Ryu, and Shito Ryu. Japanese katas are a bit more rigid than the Chinese martial arts katas. A students choice of practiced martial arts should be decided on, depending upon whether he prefers the softer of the more rigid style.
