Karate is a Japanese word meaning, open hand. Although most people think of karate as a means of combat it is much more than that. Karate students are taught dedication, discipline and how to have a positive attitude. The basics of karate include numerous physical poses, stances, kicks, punches, blows, etc., often accompanied by certain breathing techniques.
